High Voltage Installation, Maintenance and Testing Services

Hornbill is a highly qualified and experienced high voltage contractor, providing electrical engineers throughout the UK. All of our engineers hold National Grid and Basic Electrical Safety Certificates (BESC) for open busbar substation access. We offer assistance on small projects to full turnkey positions, such as professional services for the generation and distribution networks including private sites.

High Voltage Transformers

• Installation, construction, maintenance and testing of all transformers from small distribution transformers to large generation transformers.
• Tap changer; selector and divertor maintenance and repairs.
• Supply and installation of anti-condensation equipment including breathers.
• Supply and installation of any monitoring and protection equipment.
• Supply of oil filtration equipment including oil replacement and diagnosis.
• On site mineral insulating oil PCB testing.
• Installation, repairs and testing of earthing equipment including dry and liquid resistors.

High Voltage Protection and Monitoring Equipment

• Design, installation and testing of complete protection systems.
• Secondary and primary injection.
• Relay annual trip testing and fault diagnosis.

High Voltage Switchgear and Circuit Breakers

• Full installation, testing and repairs of both LV and HV switchgear.
• MCC design and manufacturing.
• Annual inspections including circuit breaker timing tests and condition analysis.
• Full maintenance and testing of circuit breakers up to 400KV including oil, SF6, Air Blast and Vacuum.

Substations and Switchyards

• Installation, testing and repairs to open busbar earth switches.
• Installation, testing and repairs to surge arrestors.
• Installation, testing and repairs to circuit breakers including SF6 condition, assessment and replacement.

Senior Authorised Persons

• Multiple senior authorised persons up to 33KV.

Project Management and Design

• Full project design with experienced engineers.
• Project managers assigned throughout the entire project.
