A Sewage Treatment Works (STW) client required an upgrade to the plant as a whole. A portion of the plant was decommissioned for removal and replaced with new items of plant which required a new MCC to be designed and supplied.
Hornbill were responsible for the complete design, supply , manufacture, delivery, installation, testing/commissioning of the Form 4 MCC located in the main Kiosk and also the cabling, testing/commissioning of all the plants instrumentation and drives feeding from the MCC.
A requirements specification was issued from which detailed design work was implemented. Throughout the project documentation was supplied continuously and regular project and progress meetings were attended. All electrical design and component layouts were submitted for approval before commencement of manufacture.
The Form 4 MCC was designed in line with the company's Guidance Notes and only contained components from an approved equipment suppliers list. The MCC controlled loads were a mixture of RBC's, Mixers, and Pumps. Motor control consisted of DOL, Star/Delta, Soft Starters, and Variable Speed Drives, additionally each load type was fitted with an appropriate protective device in line with standard requirements within the water industry.
The ICA section contained a UPS backed Siemens PLC system comprising 2 racks of digital and Analog cards. Operator interaction and control was achieved by use of a Siemens HMI. Connections to Telemetry were also included as part of the design.
The MCC was designed, constructed and tested at Hornbills premises. Prior to shipment a Factory Acceptance Test was implemented and documented, this was witnessed by the client. Operation and Maintenance Documentation, and all test certificates were supplied on completion of project along with our standard handover documentation.
