A new 2000MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) has been built in Pembroke to connect generation facilities to the National Grid infrastructure.
Hornbill Engineering played a key role in the construction phase of this project, providing the high voltage technical expertise needed to install a number of permanent facilities integral to the electrical infrastructure on the plant’s operations.
Hornbill Engineering’s High Voltage team carried out specialised, fragile and particularly challenging works on this project and excelled in all areas. Hornbill’s remit included, air oil cooling systems and associated pipe-work, valves, pumps, radiators, cooling fans, transformer protection, pressure relief devises, gas pick up relays and surge arrestors. In addition, Hornbill were responsible for the construction, installation and pre-commissioning or all five high voltage site service transformers, including installing the neutral earth resistors, conservators, radiators and cable boxes for each unit.
Hornbill Engineering have been invited back to perform repairs on other warranty high voltage equipment.
